Engagement Overview

Beyond serving the university and the profession, Dr. Correia has been genuinely committed to serving the community. She collaborates with her students with professional organizations in formal and informal educational settings to establish long-term educational partnerships.

Dr. Correia engages with different stakeholders when offering consulting services in Educational Technology. She offers her expertise in a variety of areas (e.g., e-learning, program evaluation, online learning and teaching, learning design & development, and the use of generative Artificial Intelligence in education) by attending directly to the client's needs and using collaboration and authenticity as the core of the consulting relationship.

Most of Dr. Correia’s outreach activities took place in the context of her courses on learning design. One of the courses was designed as a multi-team instructional consulting company that produced professional-level service free of charge and offered a model for entrepreneurship education across campus. As evidence of these efforts, she created a service center to provide instructional technology consulting services within Iowa State University and communities throughout the US. Graduate students engage with the communities in her courses by developing educational products and solving instructional problems.
