ESLTECH 8295 – Applied Instructional design (cr. 3)

The Applied Instructional Design course (ESLTECH 8295) is the second in a two-course sequence. It follows “Introduction to Instructional Design.” This course provides a more in-depth discussion of the topics from the introductory instructional design course using a project-based approach. In this course, students build on what they learned and practice applying concepts, principles, and theory to address real educational problems as part of design teams. They propose solutions through the use of learning technologies. The goal is to help people learn better in a variety of learning contexts and make a positive impact on groups and communities.

Lectures and online discussions on entrepreneurship by guest speakers with entrepreneurship, product development, and consulting experience are offered. Students can engage with Ohio State’s Technology Commercialization Office and learn about the process of commercialization and licensing of educational products.

ESLTECH 8296 – Learning Technologies Diffusion, Innovation and Change (cr. 3)

Attributes of innovation, the innovation-development and innovation-decision processes, leaders as change agents, and strategies for managing change are explored.

Students are expected to take an active part in the critical reading of articles and in identifying and analyzing course-related topics and guest speakers. As a result, all work in this class is individual. However, opportunities for consultation with peers, instructor, and guest speakers are provided. The final project for this class is a book chapter for an edited e-Book published in PressBooks.
